Uitangcoy-Santos House

The Uitangcoy-Santos House (also Alberta Uitangcoy-Santos House or simply Alberta Uitangcoy House) is a declared national heritage house by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.〔(【引用サイトリンク】first1=Ivan )〕 Owned by spouses Paulino Santos and Alberta Uitangcoy, it is located a few blocks away from the Malolos Cathedral along FT Reyes Street (formerly known as ''Calle Electricidad'') in Barangay Sto Nino in Malolos, Bulacan. Dona Alberta, or Iding as she is fondly called, is one of the leaders of the Women of Malolos to whom Dr. Jose Rizal addressed his famous letter "Sulat sa mga Kadalagahang Taga-Malolos" in February 22, 1889.
On December 12, 1888 a group of young women from the Kamistisuhan District of Malolos, bravely presented a letter to Governor General Valeriano Weyler asking his permission for them to have a night school where they can learn Spanish. It was Alberta Uitangcoy who handed the said letter to the Governor General despite the furious eyes of the Spanish Friars who have already rejected their petition. This has rose admiration to some of our reformist such as Marcelo H. del Pilar and Graciano Lopez Jaena.
According to Ms Josefa Santos-Tibajia, owner of the house and a granddaughter of Alberta Uitangcoy, 2014 marks the 100th year of the ancestral house of the Uitangcoy-Santos, which was built in 1914 after their former 1890s house was destroyed by a fire in 1910. It now houses the ''Museo ng Kababaihan ng Malolos'', a museum intended to showcase the collection and memorabila of the 20 women to be donated by their descendants. Restoration efforts by the Women of Malolos Foundation Inc. through their project "Own a Piece of History, Adopt a Heritage House" was conducted. On April 14, 2013 the house turned into museum opened its doors public viewing through a soft launch that was attended by its members mostly descendants of the 20 women.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://womenofmalolos.net/index.php/9-uncategorised/87-soft-launch-of-museo-ng-kababaihan-ng-malolos )
Last December 12, 2013 marks the 125th year of the women's handing of the petition letter and last February 22, 2014 is the 125th year of the Letter of Rizal to the Women of Malolos.
